Almost losing a friend...

...she breathed heavily as the attack was finally neutralized. She was indeed fighting at her limits now and she could only wonder just how much longer she could hold out. Her eyes, however, glowed a brighter blue and her mane how gotten a tad bit longer and darker.

And then came the sound of hooves clapping and she looked up to see the enemy earth pony now mocking her.

"Very good, very good. Now lets see you handle two of them."

The unicorn's eyes went wide, noticing the two giant orbs of energy beginning to spin rapidly in a threatening manner. She didn't have much time!

"Get out of here!" she desperately shouted to Wynn, who didn't think twice to turn and to take flight away. Turning back to the danger at hand, she dug deeper and focused as much of her magical energy as she could, causing her mane to grow even longer. Even her wings and the vapor around her became more impressive as she focused a hoof in the direction in between the two orbs.

The earth mare finally crossed her front legs, signaling the launch of the attack. At the same time, she focused and finally fired once again the stream of cold energy right in between the orbs.

The attacks collided. She gritted her teeth as she felt the weight of the orbs slowly pushing her attack back. Pouring more power into the attack, she made the stream wider and began pushing in her favor. Her eyes were now slowly turning magenta.

"Hmm..." the earth mare pondered. "...I think that's enough." And with a wave of a hoof, the tide was once again turned.

Several bolts of energy coursed through the unicorn's body. She screamed in pain as the thorns that had been embedded in her wings earlier began making their use known to her and her stream quickly dissipated, allowing for the two orbs to come roaring down on her and finally engulf her in their might.

"No!" Wynn shouted, a terrible fear now taking over her and she watch from behind a mound of ice as her one and only friend was swallowed by the orbs of energy. As the energy began to disappear, she jumped and dashed towards the forming crater.

Almost everything that was there was now vaporized . The ice field the unicorn had set up was now completely flatted. However, that wasn't her concern. What bothered her now was simply that her one and only friend was now unconscious in the center of the crater, ice shards and pieces were all over the place, broken from her wings that she usually maintained.

"Maya!"

Wynn finally reached her, trotting right over and bending over to wake her.

"Please get up! Please!"

The air around her became disturbed and a shrieking sound quickly became louder as it approached. Just as she turned her head to see what...

SHING!

Wynn's eyes flew open wide in a dead shock at what had just passed mere inches in front of her face. Tears were forming. Her head slowly turned to see the glowing thorns that had now just pierced her friend's main body. Defenseless and now...

She just hovered over her body, her body trembling, but she continued to absorb the unicorn's still figure now for certain completely motionless....lifeless....

She wanted to paw at her, to see if she was...

She wanted to speak, to see if she would...

She wanted to do....

And all she could do was give a loud pained sound as she collapsed into her friend's chest and started crying, not noticing the mare floating above her proudly turning and floating away.

Wynn continued sobbing. It was over. She was gone... she's gone.... she....

She felt something rubbing the back of her head?

Her sobbing slowed and she finally noticed that she was began caressed on the head by a hoof.

Wynn pushed herself up, noticing her friend now been woken up by her sobbing.

"Just....how weak...do you think I am?" she asked, almost in a tired voice. Her patting hoof moved down to her face and began wiping the tears from Wynn's eyes.

"Water is my element... Your tears are more than enough..." she muttered. "...But... you shouldn't cry."

Wynn smiled, tears still continuing to fall onto her friend.

"It's because you're the best, right?" The pegasus hiccuped

The unicorn nodded.

The frozen wings were now beginning to reform as was the vapor around her. The thorns suddenly froze up completely and suddenly shattered, leaving only the small gashes where she had been hit.



From afar, the earth pony was almost about a mile or two away...when a sudden blast of cold air shot upwards behind her. She quickly turned around and noticed the stream, going further up, almost like it wanted to pierce the heavens...

Someone was now angry.
